Fall

Hi Mom,

I'm really torn about whether to keep writing here.  I'd like to think somehow you know what we're up to but then I wouldn't want you to know how hard it has been with you gone.  I can't seem to think of  you without weeping.

Last Sunday I took a three hour, six mile hike through the woods and to the base of Pack Monadnock.  I took many beautiful photos, often as an excuse to stop and rest, it was not an easy walk and I decided I don't like my new hiking boots at all so someone will get a nearly brand new pair of shoes, hope they work better for them.

This is Cranberry Meadow Pond, a spot where I sat and rested both coming and going.  There were a few geese or ducks out on the water, I couldn't tell for sure which.

I couldn't have asked for a prettier day for a walk, the sky and leaves were beautiful - one thing I hadn't considered was how difficult the fallen leaves would make the walk, it was harder to tell where the trail was and I kept tripping over rocks and roots.

I love this shade of blue!

I came across this quote the other day that I knew you would like
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. - Albert Camus
