I haven't written here in over a month but you've been on my mind all the time. A lot has happened in the time passed and I have had mixed feelings about so much.
Melody dug up your tulip bulbs and sent them to me, I managed to plant all but a couple of handfuls this morning. I put down two large bags of fresh soil, a bag of mulch and also the bulb fertilizer that Melody sent. I do hope they some up in the spring.
Fall has been pretty but not as pretty as last year, I have photos to prove that so it isn't just my imagination. I've been trying to stay busy, I have three commissions to work one, and am also working on the largest painting I've done thus far.
I took this photo a while ago, I know you like hydrangeas as much as I do, who doesn't like them?
The other day we had two pileated woodpeckers just outside the window. I've seen them before but not two together and so close to the house. They are usually much more shy than the downy and hairy woodpeckers who don't even move from the feeder when I'm outside.
This little white throated sparrow hit the window the other day and I was sure it was dead when I picked it up. It came around pretty quickly and after I released it, it came back once, pecked at my shoe and then flew off for good.
I was glad to identify it as the backyard seems to be crawling with them! About an hour later, a catbird hit the window and sadly, did not survive. I did put out extra feeders now that the hummingbirds have gone for the year.
I miss you so much, there is no substitute for you.
